Maybe you’ve heard,
Cluttered Environment = A Cluttered Mind
Is digital clutter taking over your life?
A clear mind starts with an organized space. I adore cleanliness and fresh starts. It does take some time but saves you so much stress in the long run.
Tame The Digital Clutter
Put on a fantastic, upbeat playlist (try Stereomood), schedule in some recovery personal care time for afterward and Get Started…
I occasionally do an overhaul of my physical environment whether it’s spring or not including:
- Rearranging and organizing drawers & closets
- Laundry including all bedding and curtains
- Clean and organize kitchen and bathrooms
- Home office paperwork
Sometimes starting with your physical space ups your motivation to move into the digital. Which I’ll be honest, I look forward to less.
Taming digital clutter is hard ya’ll.

Here are some things I include in my digital clean up…
Digital Clutter Clean Up
- Clean up YouTube playlists and delete videos you’re never going to watch from the “watch later” list
- Organize email folders and delete old emails- Unroll.me is so helpful
If your inbox gets as bad as mine, well…
Also…
- Go through and eliminate unneeded bookmarks on my browser
- Update operating system on Mac and apps across all devices
- Back up files
- Notes and files on the computer desktop
- Google Docs and DropBox
I’m using an external hard drive when needed for storing older files and pictures that I don’t currently need on my computer. I also like to be able to backup online and use Google Drive.
And the files…. Oh, my the files!!!
I had been noticing that my poor little MacBook was running slow. With tons of duplicate content, the hundreds of articles, documents, and posts I have written over the last year, and lots of graphics, it’s no wonder.
My job requires a lot of files and saved content, but I can now say it’s under control for the most part. It will be an ongoing process, but at least it’s underway. A confessed “downloadable ebook junkie” I now have all those ebooks in their own files and categories based on content, as well.
I have to ask myself, “Will I ever actually read this?” Not sure, but I have high hopes.
I love my Kindle Unlimited plan so much that I have too much to read!
Clutter happens, life happens, but you don’t have to let it take over and rule!
I sold almost everything, down to there suitcases, a little under two years ago. There is nothing like moving to another continent to learn how to do more with less.
Simplicity truly is a gift!
YouTube has many tutorials on organizing your Digital Life if you are up for more.
Here’s one from Lavendaire
Do It On A Dime covers computer files, phone, photos, and email.
And don’t forget about your digital footprint,
If you make time on a weekly basis to quickly go through, delete what you don’t need, and organize what you do, you will keep things neat and save yourself all this bulk work later. Once you have the hard stuff done, keep it up.
