I’m about to throw some psychology lingo at you so brace yourself (blogging tips coming)…
Zone Of Proximal Development
Ok, I know you are like, “Hil, I came here for a post on blogging success. What are you talking about?!”
I used to hear about the Zone of Proximal Development quite a bit back in my Early Childhood Development study days. But, it is certainly not something that gets thrown around every day, so allow me to explain how this concept can help us with blogging…
Basically, ZPD is the difference between what a learner can do on his or her own and what he or she can do with help.
If you are nerdy like me and want to learn more, check this out Zone Of Proximal Development Simply Psychology.
But, my point is, if you want to learn how to blog fast, you’ve got to embrace the ZPD! Stop trying to figure it out on your own. Get help.
There are so many bloggers that have gone before and figured this online medium out who can support you. If you find someone to personally mentor you, and show you the ropes in person, then you are blessed, my friend. Take advantage of that. But, if not, there are a myriad of ways to learn how to blog online. Here are my favorite three…
3 Online Learn Blogging aka”Scaffolding” Opportunities
1. YouTube
YouTube has a wealth of knowledge on writing, social media, affiliate marketing, and many more topics that are part of the blogging landscape. And it’s free!
Type in any blogging topic into the YouTube search and you are likely to find a video to help you out.

This channel does not have a lot of videos but worth checking out for the few blog videos on working with brands, diversifying your income, and SEO.

This channel will help you improve your blog in Google search and focuses on some of the more technical aspects of blogging.
I’ve learned a lot of SEO tips from Neils channel.
2. Learn Blogging With Pinterest
Yes, yes. I need to join a Pinners Anonymous group because I have a Pinterest addiction. But, it is an amazing resource for bloggers. I even have a whole board dedicated to Blogging Success:
3. Online Course Platforms
There are some awesome online platforms that allow you to take blogging courses either free or at a very low cost. Here are two that I have personally used to help me up my blogging game (click the pics to head on over ad check them out):
Skillshare a huge variety of short, easy, and fun classes
If you go with SkillShare by clicking on the SS logo, be sure to check out Moz’s course: Intro to SEO: Tactics and Strategy for Entrepreneurs
Udemy the academy of You. They run deals on courses all the time. If you see a course you want to take, heart it until it is on sale.
And then, of course, there is Creative Live. You can watch free classes on air every day.
If you are looking to start a blog, it’s still a great time! I recommend WP Engine to host if you are going to use WordPress. They’re the company I use and trust for hosting here at Immensely Social.
Comes with great StudioPress Themes too!
