Ready to Focus?
In the last 12 hours, I have been in 3+ cities across 2 continents. At a high altitude, a higher altitude, then sea level and experienced varying temperatures. I have been questioned by the anti-narcotics division at the airport, x-rayed, scanned, been through multiple bag checks and had my shampoo tested on my skin. Ah, the sometimes crazy life of a traveling freelancer aka Digital Nomad.
Thankfully I, at least, have ample leg room on my current 8+ hour flight. Thank you LAN. Managing a business on the go can be challenging. And while I am writing this, thousands of feet in the air, I am also about to face a 10-hour overnight layover in NYC. Aside from the sleep deprivation, I am actually looking forward to using the time to get some work done.
I’m heading to see my family and spend the first Christmas in the US in three years. I’m excited. The only problem is that my full-time work schedule has and will not change. I need to complete many projects for the week, on this layover, so I can spend time with the people I love when I arrive.
But, how do you focus with flight calls going in and out? People shuffling about and other various airport sounds? With a “focus” app of course. I have talked about this app before, but I’m sharing it again as it seems to be that time of year when the “on-the-goers” are feeling behind and frazzled…
The App For Focus
*This post does contain my affiliate links. I personally use this app and am sharing it because I adore it. Opinions are my own.
Focus@Will helps you do just that…focus in on your task wherever and whenever needed. Focus@Will is an app that you can use on your computer or across devices. Yes, it is a music app, but not just any music…scientifically optimized music! The idea is based on “selective attention.” And, you want your selective attention on your work, not the distractions around you- like the noise of an airplane or airport.
This focusing app has various musical flavors from classical to cinematic! There is even an “ADHD Type” for those of us who need extra help. I’m personally a fan of the “Alpha Chill.”
I’m not the only one raving about the productivity help that Focus@Will provides.
What Users Have To Say:
To date, the easiest and best tool found for concentration-centric audio across devices and work locations. One less decision per location (iTunes here, Spotify there, and other streaming services if and when they worked) is well worth the cost. Excited to continue!
It works.
It definitely helps me!!
The trial showed that it helped. Being able to set the timer helps me get started — which is a tremendous challenge sometimes — and then being able to re-set it for a longer term helps me keep going. Thank you.
Need to focus, but you also need to add more music to ADHD category. I’m getting very bored of the same stuff and almost considered NOT using your service again because you refuse to update your music. Only reason I subscribed again is because I have a huge upcoming project and need to zone in. ADD MORE MUSIC. Thanks.
A bit of the science,
Listening to music with soothing aspects, that plays at 60 beats per minute, can decrease neural activity, and lead to a relaxed, but awake state called alpha state that is defined by an increase in alpha brain waves and a decrease in higher activity beta waves. Increases in alpha waves have been tied to a psychological state of decreased self-awareness, timelessness, and motivation known as “flow”. Songwriters, musicians, writers, athletes, and meditators are all people who separately describe the same experience when flow state is reached.
Science is good, but the best thing you can do is try it out for yourself! There’s a free trial so dive into that flow state and get to work!
