What do you need to stop doing? You’re curious, aren’t you! That’s why you clicked on this post, so let me just say it…
Stop Telling The Story to Yourself that You Are Not Enough. (emphasis on the period)
This is a human problem, not just a freelancer problem. But, Immensely Social is a place that I like to support online businesses and creatives, but all humans can take note.

I’ve been going through some hormonal issues, as of late that, which began a spell of depression: think a 30- year-old woman crying for 6 hours straight for no apparent reason.
And while I don’t particularly like sharing these kinds of moments, it made me revisit a topic that I think is important for all of us creatives who want to put our best work into the world– stories. Not the stories you write on your blog or website.
Not the stories you send out to your email list. Not the stories you highlight in your portfolio. I’m talking the story you tell yourself about how you are not good enough because…
- I don’t have “x” amount of money
- I have kids or don’t have kids
- I’m not in a relationship, not married, etc.
- I don’t have a fancy office in a high rise
- Nobody gets what I do with this online thing
- I don’t look like “x”
- I’m just a ______
- I’m not as good at ___ as _____
Feel free to add your own.
You have a certain blueprint or story of how life should look for you and if your life doesn’t match it, you feel that you are not good enough. Tony Robbins is the champion of this storytelling thing,
“When your life conditions don’t match your blueprint, you’re going to have pain.”
We can create a story of success for ourselves or a story of defeat and failure. We can focus on starting a new journey or continue to look back to past failures and let it stop us from moving forward.
A good story can empower you to try new things or even do something that gets you out of your comfort zone. But a bad story can do quite the opposite. Some are empowering stories in which you can see possibilities or recognize your talents. Others are disheartening, holding you back or feeding your anger.

Freelancer, What’s Your Story?
What story are you telling yourself that is hurting your soul, that is keeping you from doing your best, from going for your dreams? Write it down, I’ll wait.
Now My Dear Freelancer,
Let’s Create a new story…
Say this with me. Say it out loud. Write it down. Feel it. Feel the feels. Let the tears roll down if they want to:
I am enough.
I am enough right now. Just as I am.
With my current situation.
With my current financial state.
At my current weight.
Just as I am right now. With what I can do and what I can’t.
I am enough.
Feel free to write what feels powerful to you.
Feeling better? I hope so. Be patient, believing that we are enough is something to work on forever.
Let’s take it a little further. We can take our power back with action. Are there things that you could change, actions you could take to improve your current situation? Small actions towards your goals can be powerful.
What Can I Do To Change This?
Write it down.
My life does not look anything like I thought or think it should. This can be a daily struggle for me. If you too are having this struggle, I hope this post helps, even a little. Don’t give up. We are on this ever-changing creative journey together.
When we believe we are hopeless to change things, feeling helpless, that is where the suffering comes in. Check out Tony’s video for more:
May the stories you tell yourself empower you and your life!
