Mondays, they get a bad rap.
As a recurring day of the week, I think maybe it’s time we change our attitudes towards Mondays. Now, just hang with me here a few minutes, and lets play “What If”…
What if you could go to bed Sunday night and feel excited? What if you loved your work so much that you could hardly wait to wake up on Monday morning? What if you could bask in the fresh start to a new week?
I cannot promise that Monday will become your new BFF, but here are a few tips to fill your Mondays with more inspiration and less dread…
1) Don’t Ruin Your Weekends Thinking About It
If you truly have a job you hate, or things in the upcoming week that you are fearful about, it’s easy to spend your weekend in dreadful thought. This can leave you starting the week more exhausted than you ended the last one. Do what you can to prepare and let go on Friday, then embrace your weekends full force with joyfulness! Monday will come, but you do not need to fuss over.
Enjoy Your Weekend #LikeABoss!
2) Begin a Special Routine
Are your Mondays in a rut? Switch things up a bit. What would make your start to the week more pleasant? What do you enjoy that you can reserve just for such a day? How can you make an ordinary Monday a little more spectacular?
Take some time now to think about it? A certain coffee you only allow yourself once a week, a funny video clip you’ve been waiting to watch, a little extra TLC in your morning to look and feel fabulous? Even small changes can help us look forward. (A re-share, on getting out of ruts, coming soon. Stay tuned.)
Amuse yourself.
3) Take a Note From This Guy…
Get your movement on and make it fun!
Exercise can be a great mood booster, but fitting the time in on a Monday Morning can seem like a chore. Why not treat yourself to a slightly earlier bedtime on Sunday evening and get your sweat on Monday Morning. Start the day empowered!
4) Crank Up the Jams
Get on YouTube and search “Happy Music Playlist.” I don’t know how you people live without starting your week to some good jams! Combine a happy playlist that pumps you up with your workout from tip 3 and you are multi-tasking in the best way. Then, treat yourself to that special new routine from tip 2 and you are well on your way to becoming a Monday Rock Star! And, yes such a person can exist!
5) Tell Your Brain to Chill Out!
My brain feels like there are a thousand tabs open at once, so I know firsthand that we create a lot of our own drama in our minds. Mondays can be the worst for this. Take that intelligent brain of yours and use it to your advantage. Instead of catastrophizing about all the things that could go horrible wrong this week, why not “visualize” all the ways it could be awesome! I know, it is easier said than implemented, but this truly can make a huge difference in our attitudes and how we greet the world.
Remember, we all get the same amount of time. We’re all in this together. Having a low Monday? Try lifting up someone else’s. It may just bring a smile to you both.

I love this. Making Monday something to look forward to changes everything. I started to view Monday in a different light a few months ago after listening to an inspirational podcast and I’ve found my weeks go by quickly and I don’t feel miserable waking up after a weekend anymore! Thanks for your tips.

That is fantastic Laura! It takes a change in mindset, but I enjoy Mondays now too. It’s a fresh start to a new week of possibilities!

LOL, poor Monday – that guy gets no love. This sounds silly, but my job does something SO great- they do free bagels on Mondays. Seems minor but it is something we all look forward to (for me, I skip eating bagels all weekend just to enjoy this). It’s small but does the trick!

Amazing you said that Ali, because I’m doing a video soon on adding something fun to Mondays that you do not get to do other days. It’s a great idea…little treats! Thanks so much for stopping by! https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDV6WQTeNeCuDcn5JQGAsLnAAlRCPQ9xy
