DIY Color and Background Replace Want to change the colors in your logo or graphics without PhotoShop and without hiring a graphic designer?
Well, you are in luck, my DIY friend!
UPDATE: While the method below stills works, this post has been updated with a newer and easier to use tool here: DIY Color and Background Replace
I just created a video tutorial for you on the Immensely Social YouTube channel that will show you how to do just that. (Video is below if you want to scroll down and watch.)
I have been really into color lately- more than usual. I am even taking a Future Learn course at the moment called The Power Of Colour via KLC School Of Design
(It’s free so click the link if interested. It’s fascinating!).
Feeling a bit dull with the muted tones of Immensely Social, I decided it was time to switch things up. I have been going bolder the last few videos over on YouTube so thought I would pop my logo colors too.
Nothing wrong with the old colors, but I like to dress very classic with bold pops, so wanted to make my branding more authentic to me.
Here’s the thing, I don’t have or use Photoshop. I tend to stick with easy and free online tools. I thought about hiring someone on Fiverr.com to change the colors for me, but $5, now $6 with the fees, for each graphic seemed wasteful. Well, I figured out how to do it easily myself and I’m passing on the knowledge!
If you know someone else who could use this tip too, send it over to them!
All you need are two Free Online Tools to follow along with me.
Tool #1: Colorzilla
The first is a Google Chrome extension called ColorZilla it is an eyedropper tool that allows you to choose a color from any page.
Update: I know use a Chrome extension called Eye Dropper. It saves my latest colors in a default color palette so I can easily access the codes while working online. And BeFunky’s color replace tool when working in the platform to create and edit images. It’s great! I talk about that in the updated post This Genius DIY Replace Color Tool May Just Change Your Life
Tool #2: Pixlr
The second is a website called Pixler. Pixler is an online graphic editor with PhotoShop type features that you can use for free. You can crop, cutout the background, add filters and more!
Using the color dropper, I am going to grab the color codes from the current Immensely Social logo and show you how I changed it from the old, more muted colors. Check out the side by side!
Once you know how to do it, it only takes seconds. Watch how easy it is:
Edited the Facebook Page Banner this way too. You can check it out here.
If you are looking for some color inspiration, be sure to check out my color board on Pinterest. It is full of wonderful color palettes to help get you inspired!
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to come back often for new tutorials and inspiration! Oh, and leave me a comment below. I would love to know what your thoughts are on today’s tutorial, whgat you are creating, and what sites you use for your website and graphic design creation!
Until next time,
Happy Designing!
UPDATE: Again While these methods still work, this post has been updated with a newer and easier to use tool here: DIY Color and Background Replace My friends at BeFunky are always adding new and awesome features to make our design lives easier!

Very insightful! Perfect way to start! But as a designer and a brand strategist nothing can compare Adobe software . You definitely get nice crisp images. I would pick Illustrator vs Photoshop. It’s just better for creating. I absolutely love it. You can keep the templates for it too. That in itself will save you a lot of time!
You are absolutely correct about Fiverr. They simply don’t care for your company. Here is my post about why cheap logo may end up costing you a company!

Another great extension is ‘Search Google for Image’. Right clicking the image above gives links that tell us it is some sort of speaker that bombards a microprocessor with sound waves that force it to accept commands. The heading for the article is ‘It’s Possible to Hack a Phone with Sound Waves’. I’d love it to have been a USB microscope though, but I suspect they are out there.

Thanks for helping our community with that tip Harold.

Pretty much all screen capture plugins can take screenshots of a whole page. I am using Nimbus but they can pretty much all do it. With Nimbus, you can select between capturing the whole page, only the visible part or a selected area … then you can edit it if you need (crop it, blur some parts, add arrows to point something, add texts, circle things, etc…). I really recommend it instead of the one you talked about in the article.

Hi Ashley, thank you for your comment. I actually just learned about Nimbus recently and may start using that instead. Thanks for visiting and engaging. Appreciate the tip.

Its great to see that you not only recovered your investment but made a decent sum out of it. Also, well said about the Chrome extension for the “Gardening Niche” Its all about creativity. I too hope to plan my projects for long haul just as yours instead of mulling over short term chases. Thanks again.
