“Nibble your way through Charlotte, and you’ll taste the New South. Shining on the Piedmont with a modern skyline and brimming with emerging restaurants, this is a city that savors the fresh and the new.” ~The Dish on Charlotte, Southern Living Magazine
I decided on Charlotte North Carolina for our first post in the Explore “Places” category. The decision came after viewing a HuffPost article last week, America’s Most Underrated Cities for Millennials. Good stuff and Charlotte was number 2 on the list, plus 9th best cultural scene in the country, beating NYC and Chicago! I may be a bit bias too since I grew up in the area. As one of the biggest banking centers in the US, Charlotte has grown tremendously and has become a hot spot for the Millennial generation. With an enticing mixture of Southern Charm and Urban Convenience, I can certainly see why.
After all, Charlotte’s Got A Lot! Welcome…
Delicious Eats, luxe shopping, and intriguing “hole in the wall” gems.
With over 2.3 million residents, Charlotte’s growth doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon.
So, where should you go if you’re planning a visit?

Named the “Queen City” after Queen Charlotte Sophia of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Charlotte has fun festivals for a blend of cultures too. You may want to time your visit when you can join in on the fun. I hit up Greek Fest a few years ago, good times! To learn more about upcoming events, check out Charlotte’s Got A Lot. A wonderful resource for locals and visitors.
Aside from fun, learning, and exploration the point of “Places” here at Immensely Social is to share more about the Millennial Mobile Work Culture. So, what’s that like in Charlotte?
Reviews are pretty beaming with things like “enjoy every day” and “wonderful place to be.” (City of Charlotte Employee Reviews Indeed.com)
Aside from housing major banks like Bank of America, Internet Marketing companies, Red Ventures, for example, are placing their roots in Charlotte too. With easy access to the Lynx light rail system, pristine sidewalks, and plenty of green space, you can spend your days walking or riding your way through the city. In and out of cafes with your laptop, meeting interesting people from all over, it is no wonder millennials have found this a great place to connect personally and digitally.
It also doesn’t hurt that Charlotte Douglas International Airport is the national hub of US Airways. I cannot tell you how great it felt to land in this airport, last year, after over two years abroad! Though, I’m back abroad at the moment, I look forward to visiting Charlotte, NC again soon.
