I have been all up in Nikki Elledge Brown’s business lately. If you are not familiar with Nikki, she is the fabulous entrepreneur behind The Communication Stylist. I highly recommend you check out her blog and YouTube channel! So much value.
I was listening to a webinar by Nikki recently and she said,
“It’s doesn’t need to be perfect it just needs to be shared.”
The majority of us bloggers start off with little knowledge about what the heck we’re doing. I have mentioned before that Immensely Social began with a black background, white text, and hot pink hyperlinks. It was a Hot Mess! Embarrassing really. Immensely Social and I have come a long way on our journey together. We still have a long way to go. Working as an online entrepreneur presents a ton of tasks to master. Social Media, Email Marketing, Content Marketing, Photography, & Graphic Creation just to name a few.
It’s a lot to deal with peeps! But, the journey is fabulous and I would have it no other way! Maybe your site didn’t start off as embarrassing as mine, *cough, but I think any of us on this journey called blogging can admit that we know far more now than when we started. Like a top-heavy toddler learning how to walk, we stumble at times. It is completely ok. It’s better to get started and go for it, not having it all figured out, than to never begin. After all, no one wants to reach adulthood still crawling around on the floor, right!
“Don’t make a lack of perfection your excuse to not begin!”

Warning– I went a little nuts with the Tweetables, so brace yourself!
Here are three reasons your blog’s somewhat unsteady and awkward journey has value…
Value in The Journey
1.Growth
You can read all the articles, PDFs, and books on blogging you want to, and I encourage it, but until you dive in, you have no working knowledge of the situation. Blogs by those who have gone before, like Nikki, are great for wonderful information. Books like How to Blog for Profit, give us needed resources and tips. But all of that will do you no good if you do not apply and attempt. I have learned far more from diving into the WordPress platform and creating than I have from all my readings. Even if I had to scrap the old blog and recreate the one you see here, much later. Blogging forces your personal and business growth.
Those unpolished videos you put on YouTube, that eyesore of a website, the less than ideal email campaign…it’s all preparation towards your blog’s greatness!
You are learning and getting in the groove with your blog and audience. “Fail Forward Fast.” Adjust as you go.
2. Inspiration
You hear about “overnight” successes all the time, but I don’t believe it. Hard work goes into success from massive daily action to mindset. If we can get real and share the truth behind our journeys, we can inspire others to rise. When someone thanks me for sharing something inspirational, I’m thinking I just shared because I needed to hear it too. We’re in this together and we all have struggles.
I have learned a ton over the last few years, but I have been vastly disappointed in my perceived lack of progress too. Disappointments happen to us all. Your journey and your blog’s journey can act as a bolster for others who are making their way. It can also continue to inspire you when you look back and see how far you’ve come. (Clean white background, hot pink free text, thank you very much!)
“Actually, I’m an overnight success, but it took twenty years.” ~Monty Hall
3. Passion
If you’re still doing this blogging/working online thing weeks, months, years later, there is a reason. It is giving you value. Even if that value is not monetary. Obviously there is something in it that you’re passionate about whether it is extra income for your family, a message you just have to share, or the love of writing. If your blog is fueling your passion, it’s worth the awkwardness.
We, as human beings, need something to drive us. Something that helps us hold true to our vision. Passion is the precursor of growth and inspiration. It’s the driving force behind it all. And adds value to all you do.
“You have to be burning with an idea, or a problem, or a wrong that you want to right. If you’re not passionate enough from the start, you’ll never stick it out.” ~Steve Jobs
Wherever you are on your personal, business, or blog journey- Grow, Inspire, and be inspired, and do it all with Passion! Adding value to others. Awkward steps become more steady with practice.
It doesn’t have to start out perfect or ever get there really.
Create, Share, Adjust, and do it all over again! Happy #Blogging!

We need to use some advice in relation to the conduct of our blog. This will help to promote some new ideas to a wider audience.
